VEGAN LIFE NGO
Spreading veganism in Greece since 2016
Vegan Life is a non-profit organization that aims to spread veganism in Greece, but also throughout the world. We carry out all kinds of events, campaigns and actions with the common goal of defending animal rights, familiarizing the public with the concept of veganism, raising awareness around issues of social justice and environmental protection as well as providing accessible and science based information about veganism, animal rights and plant-based diet.
Our Story
The Vegan Life NGO group was united through Facebook, as its members had a common goal of creating the first vegan festival in Greece, but also a vision of creating a world with greater justice and compassion, without the use and exploitation of animals by humans. In November 2016, the first Vegan Life Festival took place in the Technopolis city of Athens, which was a huge success: In one day, 6,500 people visited the event site, tried vegan delicacies, met businesses that offer vegan products and services, and watched talks and workshops on ethics, animal rights, environmental protection, plant-based nutrition and vegan cooking.

From 2016 to 2024, 20 festivals have been successfully held in three Greek cities (Athens, Thessaloniki, Chania). The Vegan Life Festival is now the largest vegan festival in Europe with visitors reaching 38,000 in 2021 in just two days! From 2024, the Vegan Life Festival is under the auspices of the Municipality of Athens.
Beyond festivals, Vegan Life NGO has held all kinds of events, actions and campaigns for information, awareness, networking and solidarity, while at the same time running the most up-to-date Greek-language vegan channel on YouTube with exclusive speeches and interviews from experts in every scientific field.

In 2018 we carried out the first official animal rights poster installation in the Athens metro, inside the "Monastiraki" station. In May of the same year, the Vegan Life team welcomed Prince Charles to Greece with pro-vegan banners and slogans, aiming to take advantage of the press coverage to promote animal rights. Our action spread quickly and was covered by many Greek and British media. In September 2018 Vegan Life NGO collaborated with the group Greek Vegans to place banners talking about animal rights inside the Athens metro train. This action strongly occupied the local mass media.

In 2021 we introduced a new type of event, the first exclusively vegan market in Greece. Also, in the same year, we innovated once more, creating, in collaboration with TV CRETA, the first exclusively vegan TV show in our country.

From 2024, the Vegan Life NGO brought to our country the international institution of Veganuary by creating a Greek-language daily support platform for any person who wishes to try the plant-based diet and the Vegan lifestyle on the occasion of the arrival of the new year.
Also, in 2024 we brought to Athens, together with other organizations, the National Animal Rights Day in cooperation again with international bodies abroad. This action has been taking place since 2010 in more than 50 countries of the world.

From 2016 until today, the Vegan Life NGO team has collaborated with all kinds of institutions, organizations, groups, companies and municipalities with the aim of spreading veganism to the general public, through speeches and interviews at all kinds of events, festivals, conferences, conferences and media.
